Reports have been received that Taiwanese flag vessel CHINA STEEL DEVELOPER (82112gt built 1998) is immobilised with engine problems south east of Azores.
The bulk carrier is on a voyage from Pozos Colorados to Redcar. A rescue tug is being sent to the scene and it is anticipated that the vessel will be towed to Lisbon as a port of refuge.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
