Reports have been received that South Korean flag vessel HANARO MELODY (16045gt built 1997) suffered an engine breakdown off Gallipoli on 24th April 2010.
The bulk carrier is on a voyage from Varna headed south bound towards Suez. A tug has been sent to assist the vessel and tow her into port.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
