Reports have been received that Turkish flag vessel YAVUZ SULTAN SELIM (5378gt built 1976) has suffered an engine breakdown in the Ionian Sea.
The bulk carrier is adrift. Her owners are arranging for tug assistance. The vessel was last reported calling at Tutunciftlik in January.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
