Reports have been received that Estonian flag vessel KARSNES (3850gt built 1997) suffered an engine failure off Ushant on 29th January 2010.
The general cargo vessel, on a voyage from Skikda to Hansweert, requested assistance and tug HELLAS attended. The casualty will be towed towards the Netherlands.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
