Reports have been received that British flag vessel ST.JAMES PARK (7926gt built 1993) has been hijacked by Somali pirates in the Gulf of Aden.
The chemical tanker is understood to have been on a voyage from Jeddah to Thailand when the pirates struck.
It is likely that a ransom demand will be made shortly. Shipowners commonly claim a proportion of any ransom payment from cargo owners as a general average contribution.
