Reports have been received that Chinese flag vessel XIN DONG GUAN 3 (36561gt built1995) has run aground off Singapore.
The bulk carrier, on a voyage from Port Hedland Australia from where she sailed on 02/08/2009, is understood to have been aground now for over two weeks. Salvage plans are being put in place.
As a result of this incident it is possible that salvage claims will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
