Reports have been received that Turkish flag vessel FETEKOZ (3974gt built 2007) has run aground off the coast of Albania.
The vessel owners are seeking salvage assistance and we understand that they may sign a salvage contract with Smit Salvage. Efforts to refloat the vessel are underway.
Before the cargo can be delivered, it is possible that cargo insurers will be required to provide salvage security on terms acceptable to the Council of Lloyd’s. It is also likely that general average will be declared.
