Reports have been received that Norwegian flag vessel SUNDSTRAUM (3206gt built 1993) has collided with Maltese flag vessel KAPITAN LUS (4998GT BUILT 1994) off Denmark today.
The full extent of damage is unclear but it was reported that one of the vessels was taking on seawater following the accident. The possible rescue mission is being co-ordinated by the Danish Sea Rescue services.
It is possible that salvage claims will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board these vessels and also that general average might be declared.
