Reports have been received that Thai flag vessel THOR WIND (25889gt built 1998) has been towed into Gulluk after becoming immobilised off Ikaria Island.
The bulk carrier sailed from Kandla on 27th May 2009 but, after sailing through Suez, a salvage tug had to be despatched to her position. It is understood that the vessel arrived at Gulluk under tow on 14th June.
It is possible that salvage claims will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
