The containership has reportedly caused severe damage and has also suffered water ingress as a result of a hull breach. Investigations are underway. It has been suggested that a propulsion problem may have caused the vessel to enter the lock at excessive speed. AKACIA trades between North and Baltic Sea ports. Her next port of call was to be St Petersburg. Tue,20 Feb 2018 13:31:24 +0100 GLOVIS SPRING Date: 16th February 2018    Type: Grounding  Voyage: Europe/Middle East/Far East  Reports have been received that Marshall Islands flag vessel GLOVIS SPRING (65,697gt, built 2016), ran aground Paracel Islands, China on 16 February 2018. We understand that the vessel owners have signed an LOF salvage contract with Ardent Maritime, with Guangzhou Salvage as co-salvors. The owners/insurers of property salved will be requested to provide salvage security before delivery can take place. GLOVIS SPRINGS’S next port of call is scheduled to be Taichung. Her last port of call was Jebel Ali, from where she sailed 26 January 2018, having previously called at Jeddah and ports in Europe. Mon,19 Feb 2018 16:35:29 +0100 PASSAT Date: 13 February 2018    Type: Fuel Problems  Voyage: From Leixoes  Reports have been received that Antigua and Barbuda flag vessel PASSAT (9,990gt, built 2005), is being towed into Leixoes after water infiltration into her fuel. It is anticipated that the problem will be resolved over this coming weekend. PASSAT trades between various ports in the Mediterranean and Black Seas. Her last port of call was also Leixoes from where she sailed 7 February 2018. Tue,13 Feb 2018 15:32:38 +0100 DIANA Date: 19 January 2018    Type: Grounding  Voyage: France to Israel and Turkey  Reports have been received that Antigua and Barbuda flag vessel DIANA (9,556gt, built 2007), ran aground off Haifa on 19 January 2018. We understand that the vessel lost power in heavy weather before running aground. The vessel has on board a cargo of steel coils. The Shipowners have entered into an LOF salvage contract with T&T Salvage LLC. Salvage security will be required before the cargo can be delivered. It is also likely that General Average will be declared. Thu, 8 Feb 2018 11:48:59 +0100 MOL PRESTIGE Date: 31st January 2018    Type: Engine Fire  Voyage: North America to Far Eastern Ports  Reports have been received that Singaporean flag vessel MOL PRESTIGE (71,902gt, built 2006), suffered an engine room fire on 31st January 2018 and lost propulsion as a result. Two crew members have been medically evacuated by helicopter. A tug has been despatched towards the vessel and is expected to arrive tomorrow. MOL PRESTIGE trades between ports in North America and the Far East. She had sailed from Vancouver on 29th January bound for Tokyo. She is likely to be carrying transhipment cargoes for other areas of the world as well. Fri, 2 Feb 2018 11:46:12 +0100 FWN RUBY Date: 25 January 2018    Type: Engine Damage  Voyage: Belgium to Angola  Reports have been received that Netherlands flag vessel FWN RUBY (3,603bt built 2012) suffered engine problems off Gran Canaria yesterday. The vessel, en route to Ambriz in Angola, required assistance and Salvamento Maritimo deployed search and rescue vessel Miguel de Cervantes, which towed the casualty to Las Palmas. Fri,26 Jan 2018 18:47:47 +0100 HANSA MEERSBURG Date: 8th January 2018    Type: Allision with Shore Crane  Voyage: Vietnam/China/Taiwan/Japan  Reports have been received that German flag vessel HANSA MEERSBURG (18,327gt, built 2007), allided with a gantry crane at Keelung on 8th January 2018. A stevedore is understood to have been injured in the incident. Between 50 and 80 containers that were stowed on deck of HANSA MEERSBURG have been damaged to varying degrees. Prior to Keelung, the vessel had loaded cargoes in Vietnam and various Chinese ports. Tue,16 Jan 2018 16:34:23 +0100 SANCHI collision with CF CRYSTAL Date: 6th January 2018    Type: Collision  Voyage: Iran to South Korea / US to China  Reports have been received that Panamanian flag vessel SANCHI (85,462gt, built 2008) was involved in a major collision with Hong Kong flag vessel CF CRYSTAL (41,073gt, built 2011) yesterday 160 miles east of the mouth of the Yangtze River. A fire broke out on board SANCHI and she took on a list to starboard. The vessel’s crew of 32 was reported as missing. SANCHI has on board a cargo of 136,000mt fuel destined for South Korea. The crew of CF CRYSTAL was reported as rescued. CF CRYSTAL is a bulk carrier and is understood to be carrying a cargo of 64,000mt of grain from US to China. Various rescue and emergency craft are understood to be attending the scene of the accident. Mon, 8 Jan 2018 11:44:41 +0100 KALVOE Date: 29th December 2017    Type: Engine Damage  Voyage: Spain to Netherlands  Reports have been received that Cypriot flag vessel KALVOE (4,220gt, built 2011), has been towed to Cherbourg, as a port of refuge, following engine trouble. The general cargo vessel is on a voyage from Spain to Netherlands. She reported problems off Guernsey on 29 December and tug ABIELLE LIBERTE was contracted to provide salvage assistance. It is possible that claims or salvage may be brought as a result of this incident. It is also possible the general average may be declared. Tue, 2 Jan 2018 11:52:16 +0100 MARIA A.ANGELICOUSSI Date: 20 December 2017    Type: Main Engine Damage  Voyage: Brazil/Taiwan/China  Reports have been received that Greek flag vessel MARIA A.ANGELICOUSSI (86,201gt built 2001), became disabled with engine damage off Taiwan on or around 20 December 2017. We understand that the vessel owners have entered into an LOF salvage contract with Greek salvors Tsavliris Salvage.
