BARON collision with NATALY-1

Reports have been received that the Russian flag vessel BARON, 2615 GRT, 1990 built has collided with the Maltese flag NATALY – 1 (3082 GRT built 1990). The BARON was sailing from Turkey to Iran, with a cargo of iron ore, and the NATALY 1 had a cargo of steel from Rostov bound for Turkey.

Both vessels are damaged, the NATALY – 1 in the vicinity of the main deck, hold3 and the superstructure, the BARON has a hole above the water line.  

There are potential claims for General Average arising from this incident.
