Reports have been received that the Tobago has run aground off the coast of Turkey and remains aground at present.  Rescue vessels are proceeding to her aid. We expect that salvage services will be provided under the Turkish Form.

There are potential claims for salvage and General Average arising from this incident, as well as PA losses.

For your information, we are members of the Istanbul Underwriting Centre and therefore well placed to assist in negotiations arising from this casualty.

Furthermore, this vessel has a history of ISM and Marpol safety and operational deficiencies giving grounds to suspect that she was unseaworthy, which significantly increases the prospects of recovering any salvage contributions.  We will be investigating this aspect.

If you have insured cargo on board this vessel and require our assistance to deal with any security demands and claims for salvage and/or General Average, please contact us as soon as possible.  We can also assist you in pursuing recovery for any losses that you may suffer.  In this regard, we have identified the vessels’ P&I Club.
