Reports have been received that the Panamanian flag vessel MOL DISCOVERY, 42812 GRT, 1991 built has grounded in the Gulf of Suez on the 13th November. Lloyds Open Form salvage contract, with SCOPIC incorporated, has been signed by the shipowners yesterday on behalf of ship and cargo interests. The salvors are Nippon Salvage Company and SMIT salvage.

The vessel was on the following route-

Fos, France -5th November Valencia, Spain – 7th November Gioia Tauro, Italy – 9th November Suez, Egypt - 12th November

We expect the vessel to call at the following ports- Jeddah, Khor Fakkan, Singapore, Shanghai. The vessel will have cargo for most of the major ports.

There are claims for salvage and potentially General Average arising from this incident, as well as PA losses.

If salvage security is required, our personal corporate salvage guarantees are accepted by Lloyds. We can provide salvage security on your behalf (subject to internal procedures) for a bail fee from 0.8% of the guarantee amount.
