Reports have been received that the Iranian flag vessel MIR DAMAD, 4276 GRT, 1997 built has suffered ingress of water through a crack in the hull and is reported to be sinking. She has sent a distress signal in the Bay of Bengal. Navy vessels are reportedly going to the rescue of the 18 crew.
