Reports have been received that the Hong Success experienced heavy weather while passing S Africa while en-route to Lagos such that the master had to seek emergency refuge in East London port. She is said to have been ploughing into 6 metre waves causing much of her deck cargo to be lost overboard destabilising her. Further cargo was seen precariously hanging over the side when she was finally escorted into the harbour.
We anticipate that the vessel will declare General Average and there will also be significant PA losses arising from this incident.
