Date: 21st January 2010     Type: Sinking     Voyage: From Malaysia

Reports have been received that Thai flag vessel BANGBUA (4395gt built 1975) has grounded and partially sank on the Chao Phraya River, Bangkok.

The general cargo vessel reportedly struck a sunken vessel and began to take on water. She has on board a cargo of timber which will be salvaged if possible.

It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
