Reports have been received that Panama flag vessel PORT STAR (19802gt built 2005), currently located approximately 100 miles off the Kamchatka peninsular, has developed a 30 degree list.

The vessel, which sailed from Longview, Washington, on 11th September is understood to be on a voyage to Japan. Her crew is still on board and a salvage tug has been sent to assist.

It is also reported that part of the vessel’s cargo may have been lost. In addition, it is possible that salvage claims will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo that remains on board. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
