Reports have been received that Togo flag vessel RIO (10,779gt, built 1985) grounded in position lat 44 37 02N, long 037 54 08E on Novorossiysk roadstead at around 0140 hrs today.
According to information from the Russian MTCC, the port authority was requested to provide tugs to assist. However, because of poor weather, the tugs were unable to leave the port of Novorossiysk.
The weather conditions around the grounding area are reported to be wind south-westerly at 19 to 25 meters per second and waves at a height of 4.5 metres. In readiness to assist the vessel, Russian tug Toroplivyy was awaiting orders at the port of Novorossiysk
