Reports have been received that Panamanian flag vessel ZENITH EXPLORER (17,108gt, built 2008) is being towed into Cape Town by tug Smit Amandla.
The bulk carrier has on board a cargo of 3000 logs loaded at Douala from where she sailed 22nd December.
The cargo will be transhipped to another vessel. ZENITH EXPLORER will then be repaired in South Africa.
This incident may give rise to General Average and Salvage claims against cargo insurers.
