Date: 24th October 2015    Type: Grounding  Voyage: From Manzanillo

Reports have been received that Mexican flag vessel LOS LLANITOS (38,105gt, built 1993) ran aground on 24th October off Barra De Navidad.

The bulk carrier, on a voyage from Manzanillo, was reportedly ordered out of the port and then ran aground when hurricane Patricia made land-fall.

No injuries have been reported. Nineteen of the vessel’s twenty-seven crew were taken of the vessel with the remainder voluntarily staying on board.

The bulker, which trades between ports in Mexico, has suffered severe hull damage with water ingress into the engine compartment and holds. She may be a total loss.
