Reports have been received that Bahamas flag vessel HARBOUR KRYSTAL (7687gt built2006) has experienced an explosion on board off the coast of
Lisbon today.
The explosion has resulted in a fire breaking on board which is currently being tackled by the crew. Portuguese authorities are preparing to provide assistance.
The tanker is carrying a cargo of naphtha to Amsterdam. She sailed from Lavera on 3rd March and prior to that from Gaeta on 20th February.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
