Reports have been received that Turkish flag vessel HACININ AHMET (4446gt built 1985) has suffered a mechanical problem today off the St Michael’s Island in the North Atlantic.
Tug Pero de Teive has been requested to assist. We understand that the tug is now en route from Ponta Delgada to the scene.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
