Date: 3rd November 2012     Type: Grounding    Voyage: China/Malaysia/Philippines

Reports have been received that Antigua flag vessel CONMAR CAPE (6277gt built 2002) ran aground off Subic Bay on 3rd November 2012.

Salvors Malayan Towage and Salvage were engaged on a Lloyd’s Open Form salvage contract. Lightering operations have been carried out in an effort to refloat the casualty.

CONMAR CAPE trades between China. Malaysia, Brunei and Philippines. But she may also be carrying transhipment cargo from and to other countries.

It is likely that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also likely that general average will be declared.
