Reports have been received that Panama flag vessel FGM COMMANDER (6,819gt built 1985) has run aground off Hydra Island today.
The local port authority has tried to refloat the vessel but without success so far. The containership operates between ports in the Mediterranean and Black Seas.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
