Reports have been received that Dutch flag vessel ABIS CADIZ (4255gt built 2010) suffered a main engine failure on 9th June 2011.
The vessel, which sailed from Hamburg earlier in the day, was assisted by tug Asterix. We understand that she has been towed to a repair yard at Cuxhaven.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
