Reports have been received that North Korean flag vessel HYANG RO BONG (8985gt built 1982) collided with vessel BONGO LANKA outside Chittagong yesterday.

As a consequence of the accident HYANG RO BONG has developed a list and her crew have been taken off the casualty and transferred to another vessel.

The North Korea cargo vessel is carrying a cargo of rice destined for Bangladesh. She sailed from Port Qasim on 24th March 2011.

It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
