Reports have been received that Norwegian flag vessel HOEGH SEOUL (68871gt built 2004) has run aground today on approaching Antwerp.
The vehicle carrier operates between the Far East and Europe. Rudder failure is suggested as the cause of the grounding. It is not yet clear when the vessel will refloat.
Whilst it is possible that the vessel may refloat on high tide, it is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
