Date: 27th August 2010     Type: Fire and Salvage     Voyage: Voyage HK119R, Thailand to Malaysia

Reports have been received that Malaysian flag vessel HUB KUCHING (8234gt built 1983) has suffered an engine room fire on her current voyage from Bangkok to Port Klang.

Salvors POSH Semco have been engaged on a Lloyd’s Open Form salvage contract and fire fighting operations are currently underway. After the fire is brought under control the vessel will be towed to her discharge port or a port of refuge.

The insurers of the cargo on board will be required to provide salvage security before the owners of the cargo can take delivery. Salvage security is required from a company accepted by the Council of Lloyd’s in London. Our salvage security is accepted by Lloyd’s.

In addition, the Shipowners have declared general average. Richards Hogg Lindley have been appointed as Average Adjusters. Cargo owners/insurers will also have to provide average bonds and guarantees.

HUB KUCHING operates a feeder service between Thailand and Malaysia. She is on voyage number HK119R. The vessel is likely to have cargoes on board destined for and carried from various ports around the world.
