Reports have been received that Hong Kong flag vessel MSC SICILY (20676gt built 1978) ran aground yesterday near Montreal.
No pollution has been reported. The containership is on a voyage from Bahamas and sailed from Freeport on 13th June. She is likely to have on board transhipment cargoes for other destinations.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
