Reports have been received that the Liberian flag vessel (16915 gt built1994) has had a fire on board in its engine room, south of Haugesund on the 24/03/2010 at 19:39.
The crew brought the fire under control but the vessel was left adrift without power. Fire-fighting tug BB Ocean is on the scene.
Today, Hansa Riga was anchored off Dusavik at 09:50. It appears that the vessel may require salvage assistance, or at least towage.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
