Reports have been received that the Vietnamese flag vessel Dong Phong (5552 gt built 1994 ) has run aground in high winds off the coast of Hokaido, Ishikari City, on the 22/03/2010 at around 21:00.
The vessel was last reported calling at Yosu on the 17/03/2010 at 18:31, South Korea, from where she sailed on the same day at 21:36.
One crew member is injured. The vessel is still aground in the same position and salvage plans are awaited.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
