We understand that S GABRIEL is still aground off St Michael’s Island, Azores. Her Owners have declared general average.

Professional Salovrs, Titan Maritime, have been employed on a Lloyd’s Open Form salvage contract to rescue the ship and cargo. Cargo insurers will be required to provide security acceptable to the Council of Lloyd’s before the cargo can be deliverd, or a cash deposit. Please note that our security is acceptable to the Council of Lloyd’s.

General Average security will also be required. If you have insured cargo on board this vessel then we look forward to receiving your instructions.

Reports have been received that German flag vessel S. GABRIEL (4454gt built 2002) has run aground close to the town of Lagoa, Azores.

The vessel, which operates between the Azores and the Portuguese mainland, was due to arrive in Ponta Delgada on 21st November.

It is understood that a local vessel, Portas do Mar, is proceeding to the casualty to offer any assistance that might be required by the vessel’s crew.

It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
