Reports have been received that Liberian flag vessel YAMASKA (16623gt built 1985) suffered an engine failure off the Norwegian coast earlier this week.
The bulk carrier was reportedly drifting towards the coast in heavy seas. Fortunately, tug BOA HAREK was able to attach a line and tow the vessel to safety.
As a result of this incident, it is possible that salvage claims will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
