The vessel has now broken in two and oil has been spilt. The cargo is almost certainly a total loss.

Reports have been received that Turkish flag vessel GULSER ANA (23602gt built 1985) has run aground off the coast of Madagascar. Her crew has been taken ashore.
The bulk carrier is carrying a cargo of phosphates from West Africa to India. Attempts must now be made to rescue the vessel and her cargo.
It is possible that salvage claims will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board. It is also possible that general average will be declared and that cargo damage may have occurred.
