Reports have been received that Ukrainian flag vessel YURIY DVUZHILNIY (4669gt built 1989) ran aground today in the Istanbul Strait.
The general cargo vessel was assisted by tugs and eventually refloated under the terms of a Turkish Open Form salvage contract.
The owners/insurers of the cargo on board will now be required to provide security to the Salvors before the cargo can be delivered. It is possible also that the Owners of the vessel will declare general average.
