Reports have been received that Dutch Antilles flag vessel VECHTBORG (6130gt built 1998) has been towed into Brest with engine problems.
The general cargo ship began to experience difficulties after sailing from Dunkirk. Salvage tug Abeille Bourbon was contracted to assist.
It is possible that salvage claims will be brought against cargo owners as a result of this incident. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
