Claims settling:
Appointed by many cargo underwriters around the world as settling
agents, we employ a world-wide network of surveyors (with
representation in every major port and commercial centre around
the globe), enabling us to attend to a survey virtually anywhere
within a very short space of time. Our Survey Agents Directory is
available on request.
This network enables us to quickly and efficiently check that
appropriate documents and evidence are obtained to validate a
claim, while also ensuring that appropriate steps are taken to
protect cargo interests to maximise recovery potential.
GUIDE TO: Claimants
- Recovery of insured(subrogated)or uninsured losses
resulting from damaged or non-delivered cargo carried by SEA, AIR or OVERLAND.
A successful recovery requires us to deal with many aspects:
initial investigation into the cause of the loss; obtaining evidence;
selecting the most favourable jurisdiction by drawing upon a
wealth of experience of various maritime laws world-wide; obtaining
security voluntarily through our good working relationship with the P&I
insurers or by way of arresting ships or attaching assets; settlement
negotiations.
GUIDE TO: Recovery - Protecting rights
- General Average / Salvage disputes:
We are able to deal with all aspects of casualty claims including:
assessing initial policy coverage; dealing with salvage and GA security
requests; defending claims for contributions in GA from cargo interests;
Salvage arbitration; recovery of any losses.
If salvage security is required, our personal corporate salvage guarantees
are accepted by Lloyds. We can provide salvage security on your behalf
(subject to internal procedures) for a bail fee from 0.8% of the guarantee
amount. Kindly note that if we are to place our personal guarantees, it
is conditional on Dolphin being instructed to handle all negotiations
arising from the matter on your behalf.
